Bonded leather is exactly that, a polyurethane coating on top of leather pulp. There is good and bad and it all depends on the bonding agent but as with most stuff here comes the off shore manufacters to blame yet again. I use bonded leather on commercial projects and that product is rated at 250,000 double rubs which in english is heavy duty. Do not confuse ultra leather with bonded, ultra is extremely high end like 250 buckolas a yard high end and is the ultimate in high end quality vinyl. A leather hyde today is close to 800 bucks and you need three to do a moderate size chair so theres the reason for your cheap vinyl but as I said theres cheap and theres crap
