converter to batteries and 12volt schematic

Not having a schematic on these rigs is a real pain. I am relying on the forum in the hopes someone else on here has been down this road before.

Our batteries discharged about 4 weeks ago and I traced it down to what I though was a bad converter. I did that by verifying that the converter had 110volts at it's plugin but did not have any power on the 12 volt outlets (I made sure the fuses on the converter were in fact good).

I bought a new converter (which aren't cheap) and installed it. Everything showed to be working and all was well till this weekend. Again it looks like the converter may be shot.

My questions are:

Can cheap batteries be part of the issue with converters going bad this quick?

Is there anything between the converter and the batteries (fuses, connections)?

Any other reason you can think of the converters would be dying?
