That was the same question I had on hardwired vs portable. Went with the portable then discovered that yes there is a bypass switch on the hardwired unit. Upgraded to a hardwired in Jan, now one less thing to carry around and hook-up when setting up. BTW the bypass function does work, presently running in bypass here at the house because my 30 amp outlet does have the neutral and ground bonded together (next project), but I not too worried about the power at the house, but campgrounds are another thing.
