This is how we resolved the problem: there was no solution for us but to run a single piece of RG6 from the power inserter which feeds into the satellite receiver (indoors) to the convenience center hub. We are in a front living room floor plan, and so we discovered an opening for wires under the slide out sofa above the convenience center. We fed the RG6 through that opening, ran a generous length under the sofa; and from there into the entertainment center cabinet. The convenience center backside is accessed by removing the cargo area wall (screwed in). The other end of the wire was now visible in the ceiling of the cargo area; we ran it in parallel with other wires going to the walled divider and secured with wire ties. We removed a short length of cable (that connected the port to the first splitter) and connected the other end of our new cable to the "SATELLITE" port.

It works PERFECTLY now. The splitters and convoluted wiring ARE the problem. Oh, and we use a carryout Winegard G2+.
