Just installed a whole new brake assembly backing plate and cut the 2 black wires on mine to install the new and no it does not matter how you hook up the wires ,I was worried about that too but I looked in the Dexter manual and online sources and it says the same thing and also I was surprised how tiny the wire is inside the outer covering had to buy some tiny connecters and then coated them with liquid tape(love that stuff)
