Some of the Texans you see may be members of the Escapees RV club based in Livingston, Texas, who are actually from other states but have established residencies in Texas for various reasons. We are native Texans who lived in Montana for the last 10 years. We've back in Texas now and are have to go through the process ourselves of re-establishing a residency here. We'll then have Texas registrations for and Texas license plates on our vehicles as well as Texas driver's licenses. As I said, we're the real deal--natives. But many people from other states do the same thing for tax and insurance reasons (among other things).
We lived at the KOA park in Dillon, Montana, for a year, and were always excited to see rigs with Texas plates pull in, but 9 times out of 10, those people were actually from other states and had the Texas plates only because they'd established residencies in Texas through Escapees.
