Engine ticking
Our truck was kept in the garage all winter while we were in Florida with the exception of being started and driven every two weeks by our friends. When we got back we noticed a screeching like a belt so I sprayed it with belt dressing which helped but did not eliminate it. I than noticed a ticking sound coming from the engine and noticed that the coolant reservoir was empty. I filled it to the max line and it quieted down. Every time I start it now I get a ticking sound which sometimes goes away when the engine is warm and sometimes doesn't.
It is currently sitting at home until we get back from Colorado. When we get home I am going to take it to the Cummins dealer rather than the Dodge dealer. Is there anyone who might have a suggestion as to what I is? FYI, the oil is fine.
