We use a commercial carpet cleaner as well. The small Bissels work just as well, but I can't remember who I loaned that out to about a decade ago.

The hardest part as a part timer is finding a place to leave all the slides out for a day or two to let it air out. Closing the slides on the wet carpet would certainly lead to trouble.
