I answered the pump on and off, but I didn't tell you how I quieted my pump. Remove the three screws that hold the shield around the pump. Remove the 4 screws holding the pump down. Place a piece of carpet under the pump and screw the pump down with the four screws BUT do NOT screw it down tight. The pump has a vibration mount which absorbs the vibration and is supposed to quiet the pump. The installers at the factory use a preset torque screw driver which over tightens the pump mount and won't let it take the vibration. You want the screws to keep the pump from moving around and breaking water lines, but they should not be so tight that they glue the pump to the hard floor. --Good luck.
p.s. you'll need some extensions for your screw driver in order to get around and past the water lines.
