We use two space heaters (one on each level) to reduce the propane usage. If it is sub-freezing, they need carefully adjusted to make sure that the furnace kicks on a couple of times during the night to keep the basement warm to prevent pipe freezing problems. In cold weather (20-25 degrees), we averaged two to four days per propane bottle before using the space heaters.
