The 3400RL and the 3650RK were both brand new models in 2004 and were both immensely popular right out of the chute. I'd be willing to bet many early buyers paid a premium, just like when some high-demand low-supply new car hits the road. If you want it, you pay the price, you know?
Also, lots of buyers don't realize that by July that 2004 model is now last year's model since the 2005's are hitting the street. Last year's model should always get an additional discount, I would think.
