Thanks guys. I think I'll put a good coat of paste wax on them. I'm afraid silicone would run off and not protect as well. Grayghost is right, aluminum does oxidize, especially with road salt. I had to replace the remote oil filter on an older S-10 that had literally rotted away. If the legs are clear coated like aluminum wheels are, they should be OK, but I don't want to take any chances.
