That is a GREAT solution. We seem to wear two pairs of shoes all the time (slides and sneakers each). We store the other 2 pairs on the closet floor. We've beem considering pushing the vent back on the top step as well, but haven't decided if we would like how it looks. So far the closet floor works for the ones we're not using that day. DH is waiting to do lots more projects when he has access to proper tools again. We'll be visiting friends in October with a full shop.
