I don't know about the roads you mentioned but we towed US 2 from around Burlington, VT to Ellsworth, ME, which is practically next door to Bar Harbor (10 or 15 miles). No problem towing at all. None of the mountains are particularly steep on that road. It's beautiful country, though. Enjoy your trip.
