My son runs the auto repair business now and when a Walmart opened 4 miles from us everyone said Walmart will take all the oil change and tire business. It did take some at first but quickly everything came back and Walmart and the people who went there became a significant source of new business. They stripped oil plugs and snapped off wheel studs, not to mention even neglecting to install the new oil. The department manager even told me the so called mechanics there were not even allowed to use the air wrenches to fasten the wheel nuts prior to torqueing.
So much for your $10 per hour auto technicians. As Lonnie stated find a reputable local business that has been there for a long time and don't worry about a few extra bucks.
