I bought my first rv back in 1997 and took it back to the dealer after about 2 months because of reverse osmosis on the aluminum studs caused it to look like it had termites. I received every dollar back i paid the dealer including the extras i had bought. This was a Fleetwood Savanna. Ibought my next rv in 2012 and it had the cables we all have now. I currently have this 2014 Montana and of course it still has the cables. I don't remember if they had cables or rods back in '97' because i had much bigger problems than the tank valves. If they had rods before then changed to cables then i would say they are regressing.
