The sliding closet door is on track again thanks to the helpful suggestions of Charlie and Bingo.
Used a long and wide flat srewdriver and 3 medium taps with a hammer
to seat the plastic glide back into the track. Worked like a charm.
I suspect I knocked it out of the track when I was putting the vacuum cleaner back in the closet.
