We just bought our second short bed in June of this year and still love it. I do have a manual slider, but have never had to use it in either truck and have been in some pretty tight turns while backing. The first truck was a Ford and this one is a Dodge. Another reason for getting the short bed is that it will still fit in our garage which is important to me especially in the winter when we get our wind storms and tree branches start flying around. I had left my Ford out during one of these storms and ended up with a nice dent in the roof of the cab from a branch.

It is all a matter of personal preference as previously stated.
