I didn't "need" them, but wanted them. Before I installed the Firestone air bags my overload springs were engaging the bumper and I had about 3" of sag. I like a level truck when I am hooked up and it made for a better ride. Easy install and I put in about 65# when I am hooked up, 10-12# when not hooked up. -Glenn
