We have been fulltiming for almost 2 years (11/28) now and we had never weighed our rig. Plus we did not like the way it porpoised on rough roads so this summer we weighed it and found we were between 1500 and 2000 pounds overweight. We could have probably done away with 500 pounds but 2000, no way. We considered lots of options. I was thinking motorhome but our rig is paid for and we would lose too much money, plus we couldn't find any we really liked the floorplan or had the amount of room we have inside. We looked for a 3 axle trailer but the only one we found was King of the Road and the company went out of business this spring and my husband did not want to go that route. We found some toy haulers but that is not what we wanted anyway so based on his mechanical experience and knowledge he decided to put the axle under his self. It pulls so much better and we have another set of brakes so we think it was a good decision. Our biggest problem was getting stuff shipped in, our fenders only weighed 35 lbs but because they were 112 inches long they had to come truck freight and freight was within 25.00 of the price of the fenders.
