We don't like to think about it. I am wondering how one gets out of the basement after going down through the hamper door. The exterior door would be fastened shut. If fire is there I could, but would prefer not to drop from the bedroom window. I have done it, going out a second story window on sheets fastened together at our farmhouse for an emergency that was not a fire. A rope would a good idea. the knitter
