Our New Tow Vehicle

We bought a 2011 GMC 3500HD, crew cab, short box, single rear wheel, Duramax diesel
with the new Allison transmission. Took delivery on the 26th of August, 2010.
Until Ford upped their engines, the duramax was the most powerful diesel in any
North American pick up, with 379 HP and 765 ft/lbs of torque. There are already
rumours floating around that GM will offer software updates to match the 400 HP and
800 ft/lbs of torque that Ford has recently announced.
If GM were to offer a similar upgrade I don't know that I would bother. I feel that
our Max has more than enough power for what we need to pull our approximate
12,000 lb Monty.
A run on the highway of 300 miles gave us 23.8 mpg, that is on the slightly larger
Canadian gallon. In town driving is giving us 18 to 19 mpg.
We had our new truck all dished up with spray in Rhino box liner, Roll 'N' Lock, box
cover, new double swivel fifth wheel hitch, mud flaps, running boards, and some
pretty cool pin stripe painting.
We haven't towed our 2007, 2955RL Monty yet, but looking forward to heading south
the middle of November.
We sure love the new variable vane exhaust brake, it sure works great.
