After about 13,000 miles on this trip from Texas to Alaska, we are in Nevada heading back to Texas and I fixed the second one here in Nevada. Yes, I wonder why the point on the slide out is not hinged? Seems like a much better solution. I will put on the hinges when I get back to San Antonio. For a temporary fix, I drill matching holes in the broken part and re-attach the fixed piece with large tie-down straps.
