Yes - another sad Marathon tire story...

Just in case anyone on this forum has not read the many many threads on the Goodyear Marathon tires, we lost 2 tires on our last trip to Canada. One about 10 miles south of Jasper, and the other near Arlington, WA - about 15 miles from our home.

Luckily - because I read a lot of the posts on this forum, I had purchased the TST TPMS system earlier this year and both times was able to safely stop at the side of the road, and then I5 for the second, before any major damage to our rig.

We thought the first tire had a single puncture hole, but as the repair guy plugged the hole and then went to pressure the tire yet another hole popped and then another - the tire was dead. I had to buy a replacement on the spot (which was lucky as I needed it later on I5 when the second tire went!).

Now I have G614s on order, will pull off the 2 remaining Marathons - have no faith left in them. 614's are not cheap - but it seems like the majority of contributors to this forum are running on 614s and seem happy with them (have read a lot of old posts on this forum on tires over the last 2 days).

Key takeaways:
1) Read this forum!
2) Ditch your Marathons if you still have them - its just a matter of time
3) Get a TPMS - its an investment you won't regret.

(for those still reading this, I kept my Marathons for 3 years, diligently kept the pressure at 80 PSI, covered them from being in the sun etc, and don't overload our rig. Generally I stay under 65mph)
