the Decals on our 06 3400 looked good after 5 years but began to shrink at year 6 and peel at year 7. We never waxed it nor did anything special to the decals. It was exposed to the elements for the entire 7 years. A local marine graphic shop said the OEM graphics were of a quality that could be expected to last 5 to 7 years. Ours did.
