Thanks for the quick reply!!!! That is just the info I needed and a photo is worth a thousand words I will stay with the stock system for the time being though. I had removed the housing on one of the speakers too in order to make sure I would not drill through the speaker when attaching the mounting bracket. I had thought about using an "L" bracket as you did or manufacturing a bracket from some scrap aluminum. I will try to remember to post a few photos when I am complete. Thanks again.
