Someone has to help me out here?? I thought the A/C's in our rigs were of the type that cooled the air on the inside of the rig by removing the heat from the inside air and dumping it outside?? Am I wrong in this assessment?? If this is the case, then how does a cover assist the process?? Just curious?? Help us (me) out here guru Oz!!! My inquiring mind wants to know
Bingo
You are basically right. Freon is vaporized by an expansion valve and run into the evaporator located in the air flow of the ac unit. The freon picks up heat at the evaporator and is condensed and pumped through the outside condenser which is cooled by a fan blowing through it thereby dumping the heat outside. The liquid freon is then routed back through the expansion valve and the process repeats itself.

The sheet metal I insulated is the return air plenum for inside air which is routed through the evaporator.
