Evacuation Report

Well, we are switching campgrounds. We will be at Western Ridge in Livermore, two miles from the house we can't get to until we're cleared. Most of the Fort Collins area is bending over backwards to help evacuees. One of the Hilton chain cancelled reservations for a large boys baseball tournament to make sure rooms were available for evacuees. Western Ridge restaurant and Campground is offering first priority to evacuees, and pay what you can. Lakeside KOA, where we are leaving, is just the opposite. With abut a quarter of the park empty, we had to park our extra vehicles at the entrance to the park. It's only 300 yards or so, but we have ll of the possessions we saved in those vehicles. The owner said we were idiots for thinking we should be able to park in empty campsites. Anyway, our house for the moment is not in immediate danger. They are calling for 50 mph winds Monday with high temperatures. That will not help. Cost of the fire is now over $9 million.
