I did exactly what "Beeje" did, and eliminate the ant-syphoning valve. Mine was between shower wall and pocket door. Had to take off shower controls which were near the bottom of shower and pull down hoses to cut out valve and extra lines. Tied the two lines together with 90 degree Shark bite fittings and no more leaking. My valve was also the cheap plastic. No other fittings added.
