I will try and clarify. The fridge is plugged into a dedicated outlet that is connected to the inverter. The inverter is connected directly to the battery thru a shut off. The inverter is also plugged into the trailer 120v system with a plug in the basement. this allows for 120v passthru when connected to shore power. As stated the inverter is a smart switch and will automatically switch from passthru mode to inverter mode when needed if turned on. I usually just turn mine off if I am connected to shore power and turn back on when I am going to disconnect shore power and leave. I hope this helps.
