I had mechanical brakes on mine but on either side of the emergency/parking brake handle were two small levers that in a regular VW were for something else. I did individual mechanical connections to each rear brake (right and left). This gave me an unbelievable street turning ability. When entering a right turn I would just yank on the rt lever and it would lock the right rear wheel and shoot me around the corner. We called it poor mans poss i-traction. loved that vehicle! I also acquired a Gia engine and straight piped it. Damned fast.
