Ok, we will head out to my service call, last night my customer called me and said that they could smell raw (natural) gas, I'm about 45 minutes away, an OT call just to shut off the gas would have cost them around $275.00, maybe more. They have been a customer of mine, (a handful I still have) for 25 years or so, so, I told them to call the gas company, wouldn't cost them anything, besides it could have been a real fire and explosion hazard.
They called me later and said it was a gas valve leak, the gas co. shut off the gas to the duct heater, I said I would be there in the morning.
I had a gas valve, thermocouple and aluminum pilot gas lines with me, got to the Antique Mall and checked out the unit.
This mall is very very large, it has 18 split systems,(like your home) duct heaters, furnaces and so on, all the inside equipment
is in the attic and crawl spaces; yuck..

a real maze.
I got the gas valve changed out, had to take the duct furnace apart and work on it, a real mess, no room, kept bumping my head, had to get a space cleared, mouse droppings, insulation used by the meeces all chewed up and piled under the ducting. I laid out my towels and worked like a mole under there. Got her done, have some pictures for you. The wiring is a mess for the equipment, a real puzzle everytime I work on something there.
At one time in the past, they put in an 'energy saving' system, time clocks, miles of wire to every piece of equipment, extra relays and controls, a real head scratch-er.
