The foam seal should be firmly against the unit base plate I have a 1/4 inch Gap.The trailer manufacture installed the divider plate when they mount the AC unit.this unit was replaced under warrinty so I have issues with the dealer when they installed the replacment unit.Dometetic was extreamly helpfull
