I have a HW30C EMS surge protector (hard wired) and wanted to know what other folks are using for a generator with this EMS. I hooked up and old Honda and it shut down the EMS.

Reading the output with a digital VOM, I got 138 volts. I imagine that the reading was high because the output is not a pure sine wave.

SOooo, do I need to get an inverter type generator or perhaps the generator I have is just shot although it will run a flood lamp without blowing the lamp.
