Because I used LED as opposed to incandescent, the cheaper stuff found at popular hardware stores, no heat is generated. With no heat, I used some really good double sided tape to temporarily affix the rope light to the underside of the counter top, in various places. I then used clear silicone and glued the rope to the plywood and corian.
We did the same we call them mood lights!
