I affixed some 12 volt LED rope light to the underside of the kitchen counter, wired in a switch and a circuit breaker (on the back side of the cabinet where the drawers are) and wired it into the 12 volt feed supplying power to the propane detector. The lights use a total of 0.81 amps - nothing!
