We bought our used rig in AZ and imported it into Canada.
AZ DMV sold us $15 90 day temp tags for the transit. One for truck, one for trailer. We showed them the bill of sale and the CoO. They were most interested in the $$. What we bought had Alaska tags, and registration, if anyone is wondering.
Had to stop at the US side of the border to export the vehicle, and they either took the CoO, or just wanted to see it. (Plus you have to fax them a bunch a stuff 3 days before you cross, or you cant export it that day) cant recall for sure if they took the form.
Then you cross into Canada, and the Canadian border folks fill out the import form, and if the Americans didnt take it, this is when the CoO is surrendered.
Dont mix up this document the vehicle registration, they are not the same. In Canada, we never see a CoO.
Then you pay a bunch of money - 2 taxes (PST and GST) inspections by 'Registar of Imported Vehicles' , registration, plates, and insurance.
