I replaced the plastic 'thing' around the edges. I think it had a connection that plugged in to either the fan or the switch. My bet is this may have fallen out. By the way, the reason I replace the thing is when up on the roof putting on a new rubber gasket, I thought the plastic looked a bit yellow. So I pushed on it a little bit and it broke in my hands. So be careful when messing around with it!!!
