The sacrificial anode has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the electric works. If you turned the switch to on and it didn't work, it is likely your heating element is gone. It is possible it is the contacts but I have never heard of that happening. Make sure you check your water heater breaker on the panel as well.

If the anode is actually gone, you shouldn't wait to replace it. Once the anode is gone it can't do its job and the inside of your heater will begin to rot away.
