Actually, it was held up by a screw in the side wall. and then there were two screws in the base. These screws were all just screwed into the TV. Strange way to do it, but it worked.

I mounted the new LCD from the top of the large cavity with a mounting bracket. The space left from removing the old monster is incredible!
