Level first. After leveling you can scroll down and see just how level you are front to back and side to side. After extending the slides you can check level again and you will be the same. I wouldn't be concerned about the side to side when extending the slides but if you are off very much front to rear you could put the slide in a bind. It's to easy to just push a button and level first and know you are safe.
