Kid from next door came over today with this "brain teaser" from his 6th grade math class - wanted to know if I could help him figure it out. I'm still working on it. See how you do.

Three guys check into a hotel and want to rent a room and the clerk says it will be $30, so they each hand him a $10 bill ($30).
Later the manager tells the clerk he has overcharged as the room was only $25. He pulls five $1 bills from the register and instructs the clerk to go take the refund up to their room. The mathmatically challanged clerk can't figure how to evenly divide the five dollars among the men, so he puts 2 dollar bills in his pocket and gives each man back one dollar each - problem solved. Now the men paid $10 each to begin with and received a one dollar refund, so each man now paid $9 each for the room. 9 X 3=27 plus the two dollars in the clerks pocket equals $29. What happened to the other dollar???
