Montana Sky,

It almost sounds like you aren’t getting to watch a DVD on your Quest system. I hope not! If so, you have to switch the TV’s input to AV1, or maybe AV2, to view and hear a DVD when one’s in the Quest system.

As for “playing through the TV?” Home Theater Systems almost never output audio through a TV. They will simply use their surround system speakers. TV speakers can’t cope with the power of the theater systems’ output.

I did find that after I added a cable to the TV’s Audio Output jacks, running it to the theater system’s TV Audio In jacks, the Home Theater System then was able to use its speakers to play the TV’s audio, rather than just using the TV’s speakers. It’s only a simple stereo sound, and had to have the extra speaker features, (“Simulated Surround,”) to sound even better.

If I wasn’t so deaf, I’d probably use that more often.
