Many Norcold models (our 2012 for sure) have a "storage latch" which is to be used when the refer won't be used for a while. There is a slide lever in the handles which extends a small latch to keep the door from closing completely. The Norcold 12xx manuals reference this piece but I couldn't find it in the Polar Max 1800 PDF. Maybe they saved a nickle by eliminating it.
