I agree with Bob on the right angle plug as it takes the stress off the plug. As for the other end i wrapped the cord with a lot of electrical tape and it has held up real well and this was probably 3 years ago. As for as changing out the plug the wire is 6 ga. so it is very stiff. Even when changing out the plug i would go ahead and tape the plug and cable together so as to have an head-start on what will probably happen again. When the tape and plug starts getting real limber again and starts to fray just remove the old tape and re-tape.
