I don't have slide toppers. No matter where I am parked, under trees or not, I always walk my roof and sweep the tops of all my slide outs to make sure there is not even one leaf on them before retracting them. I will also wipe my slide tops down with a towel if their is any water or condensation on them. If you have a puddle of water sitting on your slide top you will soak your RV when you retract it. What ever is on top of your side will end up in your RV...leafs, branches, water, bugs, dirt, etc...
