Wives, lady friends, whatever, should all get experience towing. What's going to happen if for some reason maybe hundreds of miles from home she HAS to tow because something has happened that prevents you from being able to drive? It's far better to learn while not under stress.
Not quite the same thing but I had my daughter driving a crew cab with 11 1/2 ft camper towing a 4 horse trailer when she was 15 and had her learners permit
