I consider this as just another effort to put the least expensive product on a Montana, or Keystone product.

The steps on my '14 have a rivet that is all but pulled out. Just more crap from Lippert. Now the suggestion is to install a support under the lower step at the owners expense. (which I have done)

My 17 year old motorhome had the original electric steps on it when I sold it. It was not a Lippert set of steps.

Realize the folks that own Keystone, also own Lippert so crap in/crap out.
