We've had the Splendide for six years now and never had a drain pan, we do have a water alarm on the floor next to it however. No drain pan for us either. Since your post I find myself frequently looking at how to swing that pivot door for best results. I presume it now swings up against the toilet which will restrict the enter in space a bit but looks very doable.
