Just wondering what makes 2 6V batteries better than 2 12V batteries?
Well that depends on what you are looking for, more amp hours or longer life with more discharge capability.

Most 6 volt golf cart batteries give you greater deep cycle charging and will last longer than a 12 volt hybrid (RV/Marine) battery.

When installing two 6 volt batteries wired in series the amp hours remain the same and the voltage is doubled. Example: Two 200 amp hour 6 volt batteries wired in series equals one 12 volt 200 amp hour battery.

When working with two 12 volt batteries wired in parallel the voltage remains the same and amp hours are doubled. Example: Two 100 amp hour 12 volt batteries wired in parallel, makes one 12 volt 200 amp hour battery bank.

But you also consider size as 2 - 6volt batteries will take less room than the 2 - 12 volts.

Unless you are setting up a solar system you are probably better off with the 2 - 12 volts as you will get more battery time for boondocking, etc.

Hope this helps.
